eBay Hits the World Wide Road

Global direct marketing and promotions company TLP Inc., Wilton, CT, won the eBay account last week and used the opportunity to draw attention to the sexy summer road tour with the Internet company that bills itself as the “world's leading person-to-person online trading community.”

The coast-to-coast eBay road tour crew is having fun taking its message direct to consumers with the exceptionally direct campaign message of “From Our Homepage to Your hometown.”

The eBay road team is traveling in Fleetwood RV's, vans and trailers with the eBay logo blazoned across the sides of the vehicles. Scheduled stops include state fairs, flea markets, antique shows and various cultural events

“It's a great way to connect with our faithful users, and generate awareness about new features and services on eBay,” said Brian Swette, eBay's senior vice president of marketing.

The eBay tour includes a carnival-style tent with a large blimp floating twenty feet in the air. Inside the tent, are Compaq computers running real-time eBay demos.

“Millions of collectors consider eBay their home away from home,” said John Kocis, TLP's director of client services. “This event allows [them] to gather and share their passion for collecting.”

Other TLP clients include Citibank, Pepsi-Cola, Pizza Hut, Harrah's, Advo and Lexmark.
