DoubleClick Axes 6 FloNetwork Execs as It Closes Acquisition

DoubleClick Inc. said it has completed its acquisition of Toronto-based FloNetwork Inc. Left out of that announcement, however, was that the company fired six top FloNetwork executives.

The layoffs were expected, according to DoubleClick.

“There were layoffs as a result of the merger,” DoubleClick spokeswoman Jennifer Blum said. “No surprises. This was announced when we announced the acquisition.”

The fired executives are Chris Keevill, FloNetwork's president and chief operating officer; Regina Brady, vice president of strategy and partnerships; Peter Evans, vice president of marketing; Wilson Lee, chief financial officer; Peter Lockhart, vice president of professional services; and Paul Chen, chief technology officer.

Brady plans to open Reggie Brady Marketing Solutions, a Norwalk, CT, consultancy focusing on e-mail marketing.

None of the executives could be reached for comment yesterday.

FloNetwork, which employs about 250 people, provides e-mail messaging services and software. The company delivered more than 540 million e-mails for more than 125 clients in fourth quarter 2000. During the first quarter of 2001, DoubleClick and FloNetwork delivered a combined 1.7 billion e-mails for more than 240 clients, DoubleClick said.

When DoubleClick announced its acquisition of FloNetwork in February, it said it would continue to offer its DARTmail technology and FloNetwork's e-mail technology. The company plans eventually to integrate the two platforms.
