DMCNY hosts 26th Silver Apple Awards

The Direct Marketing Club of New York hosted its 26th annual Silver Apple Awards Thursday night in Manhattan at the Hudson Theater, just east of Times Square. The black-tie-attired direct marketing crowd enjoyed an hour-long cocktail hour leading up to a seated dinner where seven individuals and one company were to be honored with a 2010 Silver Apple. Executives from the night’s sponsors – Alliant, Direct Marketing Association, Merit Direct, Specialists Marketing Services, Acxiom, InfoGroup, Epsilon and others – mingled with old friends. The DMA’s new CEO Larry Kimmel was there as well.

Club president Pegg Nadler kicked the night off by welcoming the audience to the awards event, while Pam Haas of Epsilon and the New York group’s first VP began readying the awards.

Silver Apple recipients included Alliant as the corporate winner, Bruce Biegel of Winterberry Group, the DMA’s own Jerry Cerasale, ARGI’s CEO Ray Butkus, MeritDirect chairman Ralph Drybrough, Karen Isenberg of Specialists Marketing Services, Eugene Raitt of Allied World Assurance Company (who probably gave the best speech of the night if we’re counting by laughs) and on the in-house side of direct marketing, Christine Slusarek, executive director of list and database marketing for Time Inc.
