DM Veteran Dick McEnroe Dies at Age 72

Dick McEnroe, a 40-year direct marketing industry veteran, died Aug. 22 of cardiac arrest following a long illness. He was 72.

McEnroe, who was a Silver Apple award winner in 1992, retired in 1999 as a sales manager of the list brokerage division of Omni Mail Inc., Brooklyn. He broke into the industry in 1959 with Long Island-based O.E. McIntyre, rising from a trainee to a sales and service manager. In the 1960s, he worked at Barth Vitamins, Hodes-Daniel and Curry-Debow.

“He was very involved in DM Days New York, where he was arrangements chairman for many years,” said his wife, Pat McEnroe. He also was a speaker at Florida Marketing Association events, a member of the Long Island Direct Marketing Association and involved with the Caples Awards, she said.
