To help educate direct marketers about the exploding search business, DM News will publish a magazine supplement in its July 25 edition titled “The Direct Marketer’s Essential Guide to Search Engine Marketing.”
The special issue will be put together by Senior Editor Mickey Alam Khan, who regularly covers Internet marketing topics. The editorial content will consist of authoritative and insightful articles by top experts in the field of search marketing, whose editorial mission will be to educate longstanding direct and database marketers on the ins and outs of search marketing and how they can integrate the technology and use it effectively in their campaigns.
Alam Khan indicated that he is already in contact with a number of prominent search marketing authorities about contributing to the supplement, which is intended to be an annual release from DM News. He pointed out that direct marketers were recently cited as one of the next main waves of expansion for search marketing technology by Safir Rashchty of Piper Jaffray at a recent Ad-tech conference.

Enhancing its value to advertisers, the guide’s distribution will go far beyond the 50,000 primary circulation of DM News. According to the company, copies will also be distributed at all remaining conferences and trade shows in 2005, including Ad-tech shows, Search Engine Strategies events, the DMA’s annual conference and other events attended by direct, database and Internet marketers.
“The Direct Marketer’s Essential Guide to Search Engine Marketing” represents the latest in a series of advertising-supported magazine supplements produced by DM News. Earlier in 2005, the company produced a highly regarded sector-by-sector forecast of the direct, database and Internet marketing field called “Outlook 2005.” A retrospective 25th anniversary supplement was produced last fall to review the evolution of the industry since the founding of DM News into the direct and interactive medium it has become today.
