DM News plans Essential Guide to Multichannel Retail

DM News invites editorial submissions for its first Essential Guide to Multichannel Retail, a compilation of must-read articles from experts working to integrate operations across catalogs, stores, e-commerce, television, telephone and other channels.

It will comprise case studies, how-to tips, best practices and research from retailers and vendors. Articles will focus on marketing, merchandising, software and platforms geared to making retail channels and tactics like direct mail, e-mail and search work together.

“Our goal with this guide is to have industry experts help our readers navigate this complicated multichannel world with tips for customer acquisition, retention and reactivation using one or more retail channels,” DM News editor in chief Mickey Alam Khan said. “That’s how consumers shop, and that’s how retailers and vendors must operate.”

Senior editor Chantal Todé  will handle submissions for stories related to channels like store, catalog and telephone. Associate editor Dianna Dilworth will take submissions for channels including e-commerce, DRTV and emerging media. Articles will emphasize the complementary nature of the multichannel retailing efforts.

Articles will be 400 words, tightly edited for clarity and insight. Each must include the author’s name, title, company, city, state and e-mail address. The author’s headshot in high res color jpeg should be submitted along with any other supporting art.

Please pitch Ms. Todé and Ms. Dilworth with article ideas, mentioning “Multichannel Retail Guide” in the e-mail’s subject header. Once commissioned, turnaround time for editorial submissions is 10 days. The book’s editorial section closes Dec. 26.

The guide, valued for its advice from retailers and their partners and for its shelf life, will be polybagged with the Feb. 12 print edition of DM News. It will be sent to all 50,300 subscribers and distributed at major trade shows where DM News exhibits. The guide also will be available at www.dmnews.com as a PDF after its publication.

Marketers interested in advertising in the guide may contact associate publisher Robert DiGioia at [email protected].
