Deutsche Post Global, the U.S. subsidiary of Deutsche Post World Net, this week introduced the latest version of its AddressDoctor global address verification and correction software to the U.S. market.
The software promises direct marketers an average list correction rate of 40 percent and an average savings of 15 percent in nondeliverables.

Started in 1996, the AddressDoctor database includes addresses from 202 countries derived from official postal data from each country. It is updated continuously using various international sources.
There are two versions of AddressDoctor. One is designed for Web sites and prevents bad data from entering client databases. The other is a batch-based version geared toward traditional direct marketers and sorts bad addresses resulting from misspellings, ZIP code errors and other imperfections.
Currently available in Windows, a Unix-based version is expected by the end of 2001.
AddressDoctor is being used in Europe by firms such as Siemens and Europe Online.com.
