Deal Puts 123Greetings.com on eMachines Keyboards

eMachines Inc. will feature a proprietary key for greeting card Web site 123Greetings.com on the computer retail firm's Internet-button keyboards as a result of a deal between the two firms. Financial terms were not disclosed.

eMachines recently launched its Internet keyboards, which are designed for new computer users. The keyboards have 19 buttons that are linked directly to e-commerce Web sites. Some of these buttons are programmable by the consumer, while others — like the one dealt to 123Greetings — are already linked to retail products or services sites. ESPN.com, eBay and TicketsUpFront.com have signed similar button agreements with eMachines.

Through this deal, 123Greetings, New York, looks to gain an audience of “late-adapter” keyboard purchasers for its online offering of customer-designed e-mail greeting cards. The cards can contain multiple colors and background music. eMachines, Irvine, CA, gains a Web site rated among the top 200 sites by audience measurement firms Nielsen//NetRatings and Media Metrix
