Online analytics provider Coremetrics named a customer relationship management veteran as its chief executive and president yesterday.
Joe Davis comes to the Burlingame, CA, company after two years at PeopleSoft, where he was group vice president and general manager of its CRM unit. Prior to joining PeopleSoft, Davis was president of the e-business division at Nortel Networks. He also ran the CRM division at Remedy.
“As CRM's evolved, what you've seen happen is the value of analytics has gone up,” Davis said.
Davis said he was attracted to Coremetrics by its LIVE profiles, which are a detailed record of a Web site's interactions with individual consumers.
“The challenge of the next phase of CRM is to optimize it,” he said. “To do that you need to be able to look at the data in more detail.”
Coremetrics revamped its Online Analytics 2004 product in February, adding features to make it easier to use and measure which marketing is directly generating sales.
Davis takes the reins at Coremetrics from Robin Williamson, who served as acting CEO since January 2003. Williamson has returned to his previous position as vice president of engineering.
