Convergys to Shutter Call Center in WA

Teleservices giant Convergys Corp. said Friday that it will close a technical support call center in Kirkland, WA, on June 16, according to reports.

The center, located in a Seattle suburb, employed 360 workers. It was one of two help-desk customer contact centers that Convergys purchased from Keane Inc., Boston, in February for $15.7 million.

The other center, located in Tucson, AZ, will remain open. Convergys said the closure was part of a consolidation of its call center facilities. Laid-off workers will be offered the options of a transfer or a severance package. Convergys, Cincinnati, employs about 45,000 people in 50 locations worldwide.
