IBM Corp. selected Convergys and SR.Teleperformance as its teleservices partners in fulfilling its contract to take over some of the customer support functions of Sprint, the companies announced yesterday.
Under the five-year deal, IBM will assume management of Sprint's 21 vendor-operated call centers as well as its in-house call center in Nashville, TN, which will be transferred to Convergys along with its 1,100 employees. The deal is expected to save Sprint $550 million over the life of the contract.
SR.Teleperformance's North American business units, Teleperformance USA and Merkafon-Teleperformance Mexico, also will act as a subcontractor under the IBM-Sprint deal. The financial value of the transactions was not disclosed.
Convergys and SR.Teleperformance will provide customer service and sales support under the contract. Convergys also will provide billing and employee-care services.
