Connors Bags Deloitte & Touche, Mariah Vision Business

Deloitte & Touche LLP has named Connors Communications, New York, to handle public relations for its technology and communications practice encompassing New York, New Jersey and Connecticut.

An estimated 12 undisclosed agencies pitched for the business, and the final round narrowed the contenders to three shops. Services offered by Connors include media relations, pushing profiles on business partners, data infrastructure and data mining.

“I think we're really trying to help them create more brand awareness in the tech space, which, I think, is a challenge,” said Scott Allison, San Francisco-based president of Connors.

“The challenge in the tech space is that it's so crowded right now, with [news of] everything from Wall Street to the death of the dot-com boom,” Allison said. “We want to position them as the leader in the technology future.”

Deloitte & Touche is one of the leading consultancies nationwide, offering management consulting, tax, and assurance and advisory services.

In related news, Connors also was named to handle PR for Mariah Vision, a Virginia Beach, VA, Web software firm.

Connors, which becomes Mariah Vision's third PR shop in six months, competed with five undisclosed agencies in Boston, Chicago, New York and California. Portico, Boston, was the incumbent.

Mariah recently launched 3Scape, which uses data visualization technology to query and communicate with server-side databases.

Two-way communication between a corporate database and end-user allows for the creation of pertinent content to 3Scape objects. This results in a real-time Web application that does not require any refreshing of the relevant application. Children's educational books publisher Scholastic Inc. is a client.

“We basically want Connors to position Mariah Vision as a solutions provider for new dimensional Web environment solutions,” said Timothy Ambrosino, president/CEO of Mariah Vision.

Connors is a specialist in Internet and tech marketers. Clients include priceline.com Inc., NationalGeographic.com, SideStep, zipRealty.com and Schema. It has begun media outreach for 5-year-old Mariah Vision.

“We hope to leverage our relationships within the tech sector to help Mariah Vision to foster strategic alliances and partnerships,” said Connie Connors, CEO of her self-named agency.
