Commerce One to Cut 10 Percent of Workers

Commerce One will be cutting up to 10 percent of its workforce in an effort to reduce costs.

According to the business-to-business software provider, the reductions are going to be made across all of its divisions. There are currently 3,600 employees.

Commerce One had been one of the B2B software companies that did not announce any layoffs during this weak economic period and slowdown in information technology spending.

Mark Hoffman, chief executive of Commerce One, said the development unit, which is made up of close to 600 people, would be the least affected.

Along with staff reductions, Hoffman said the company plans on cutting other expenses, such as capital goods and travel.
