Who it is: Eileen Campbell, named CMO of IMAX, a provider of entertainment technology.

What’s her role: Campbell will be in charge of the company’s global marketing department.

Where was she prior: Prior to joining IMAX, Campbell was the Global CEO of Millward Brown. She has also held senior leadership positions at Angus Reid Group, Maritz, and NFO Worldgroup.

Why was she appointed: “We believe Eileen’s impressive marketing and leadership credentials, coupled with her analytic-based approach to brand-building, will help us to strengthen and extend our brand value in support of our continued growth,” says IMAX CEO Richard L. Gelfond.

Who it is: Nicholas Drake, appointed CMO of Quiksilver, an outdoor sports lifestyle company.

What’s his role: Drake will be responsible for overseeing Quiksilver’s global marketing efforts and devising strategies for breaking into new markets.

Where was he prior: Most recently Drake served as the managing director of TBWA/Chiat/Day Los Angeles, where he was in charge of TBWA Worldwide’s Visa, Gatorade and adidas businesses. Drake also cofounded “Let There Be Dragons,” the agency’s Innovation Lab.

Why was he appointed: “He combines extensive brand, media, digital marketing, and social media expertise with an ability to develop innovative strategies for entering new markets,” says Andy Mooney, president and CEO of Quiksilver Inc.

Who it is: Jeffrey Samuels, the first person to occupy the newly created post of CMO of OpenDNS, a provider of cloud-delivered Web security services.

What’s his role: Jeffrey will be tasked with expanding Umbrella, the company’s line of cloud-based Web anti-malware software, as well as spearheading product adoption in overseas markets.

Where was he prior: Before joining OpenDNS, Samuels held the CMO position at GoGrid. Prior to that, he served as the GM and VP at Neustar and GM and EVP at UltraDNS.

Why was he appointed: “Jeff has the right experience developing winning marketing and product strategies and building world-class teams to scale OpenDNS’s position as a global leader in Web security”, says David Ulevitch, OpenDNS founder and CEO.

Who it is: Michelle Gass, appointed Chief Customer Officer of Kohl’s, the Wisconsin-based department store chain.

What’s her role: Gass will take on the task of revamping Kohl’s customer experience, while preserving brand authenticity.

Where was she prior: Most recently Gass was president of Starbucks Europe, Africa, and Middle East. During her time at Starbucks she initiated and launched the line of Frappuccino frozen drinks.

Why was she appointed: “She knows the Kohl’s brand. She’s a mom. She understands the store. She understands the brand. She understands the challenge. She’s executed something similar to what we need to do here,” says Kevin Mansell, Kohl’s CEO and president.

Who it is: Victoria Grey joins Soonr, a cloud-based mobile content management provider, as its new CMO.

What’s her role: In her new role Grey will steer Soonr’s global corporate and channel marketing campaigns.

Where was she prior: Grey was most recently the SVP of marketing at Nexsan, a storage systems provider. Previously, she held positions at Quantum, EMC, Legato Systems, and Apple.

Why was she appointed: “With the addition of… [Victoria Grey], we add greatly to the depth of our leadership team while we continue to rapidly expand our business,” says Martin Frid-Nielsen, Soonr’s cofounder and CEO.
