Cisco to Provide Internet Service to Starwood Hotels

Cisco Systems Inc. this month entered a deal that calls for the company to supply Starwood Hotels & Resorts Worldwide Inc. with its high-speed Internet service.

The deal with Starwood means that Cisco has now reached agreements with the country's three top hotel operators — Starwood, Hilton and the Marriott — to provide its DSL service.

Starwood executives said they plan to roll out the technology first at the New York Sheraton Hotel. Over the next six months, the company plans to spend millions of dollars to install needed technology for DSL service in its other hotels, which include the Sheraton and Westin names.

“We picked a technology provider we're confident is going to remain committed to the products and stay in business for a long time,” said Steve Hankin, who oversees Starwood's marketing, distribution and technology division.
