Carat Fusion expands search practice with new hires

Digital marketing agency Carat Fusion has employed Randy Schwartz as director of search engine marketing to expand its search marketing practice. The agency also hired four search marketing professionals to join the SEM efforts in its New York firm.

Mr. Schwartz will be responsible for overseeing a number of search-marketing services for the agency’s New York clients, which include Pfizer, Wyndham Hotel Group and Re/Max. He will also drive new strategic search initiatives and integration with digital media, brand management and corporate communications.

“I think we’ll continue to build on our proven track record for success, help bring search solutions to new verticals like CPG and create a paradigm where search can recognize, validate and even drive our agency’s cross-media strategies,” Mr. Schwartz said.

Mr. Schwartz has a proven track record in building digital media and search solutions. He comes to Carat Fusion from Reprise Media where he recently served as director of strategic development.

He oversaw account strategies for clients that included Yahoo, CapitalOne, Palm Pilot and The New York Times.

Before that, Mr. Schwartz was media director with TMP Worldwide, where he worked with clients that included iVillage, Columbia House and CMP Publishing. He has a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University.

“So far, I’ve seen great interest in search from our traditional arm,” Mr. Schwartz said. “My first endeavor has been to tangibly represent the impact that media – traditional and digital – has on consumer search demand and how search-marketing tactics can complement and build on each leg of our promotional engagements.

“Beyond that, there’s a great need to better represent how paid and natural search strategies fit together,” he said.

To address the increasing demand for search-marketing services, Carat Fusion has also hired Sean McDonald as associate director of search engine marketing; Michelle Zung as a senior SEM associate; and Thao Nguyen and Trevor Beddoe as SEM associates.
