Cadmus to acquire LexisNexis printing operations

Graphic communications services provider Cadmus Communications Corp. has entered into an agreement to acquire LexisNexis’ conventional printing operations in Charlottesville, VA, and its digital printing operations in Conklin, NY.

In addition, Cadmus has entered into a five-year agreement with LexisNexis, which provides information services to the legal, news and business information markets, to produce substantially all of its printing requirements.

In December, digital printer Cenveo Inc., Stamford, CT, said it would acquire Cadmus for $430 million, creating one of the largest graphic communications companies in North America.

LexisNexis, which has offices worldwide, is a division of Reed Elsevier and a long-term customer of Cadmus, Richmond, VA.

The deal represents an expansion of Cadmus’ publisher services business and will provide the company with an opportunity to expand its position in the legal and business information market, and to offer a broader range of press and finishing capabilities to its publishing customers.

LexisNexis, expects to be able to enhance its capabilities in print as a result of the transaction while directing more of its attention and resources to developing solutions for its customers.
