Brands and stores can use Pinterest’s new widget to show ‘most pinned’ items

Pinterest released its first API yesterday, which will allow brands to showcase their most pinned items on their websites.

Brands can place a widget which uses the Pinterest API on their website which will then show site visitors what their most pinned products, articles or media are. As usual, Pinterest is rolling out this new feature only to a select number of partner brands and sites, such as BuzzFeed, Disney sites Babble and BabyZone,  Elle Magazine, Mashable,ModClothNestlé,  TargetWalmart,WayfairWhole Foods and Zappos.

Not only does this give brands real-time info about their products and content, it’s an easy way to display and capitalize on their most popular items.

Here’s what it looks like at Zappos and Modcloth:

Pinterest says it will roll out additional features to the widget, including  top repins, most recent Pins, related Pins, most clicked-through Pins and Pins from specific search terms.
