Bon-Ton Stores selects DHL as small package delivery provider

DHL, an express delivery and logistics company, has been selected as the exclusive small package delivery provider for the Bon-Ton Stores Inc., one of the largest regional department store chains in the United States.

DHL will provide domestic express and home delivery services to the retailer’s entire network. DHL will deliver these items upon request by customers to a business or residence.

The Bon-Ton operates 278 stores in 23 states in the Northeast, Midwest and upper Great Plains under the Bon-Ton, Bergner’s, Boston Store, Carson Pirie Scott, Elder-Beerman, Herberger’s and Younkers. Under the Parisian nameplate it has two stores in the Detroit area.

Bon-Ton offers bridal registries, an online store and a broad assortment of brand-name fashion apparel and accessories for women, men and children, as well as cosmetics and home furnishings.

“We evaluated all of the major US delivery providers based on their ability to serve the entire Bon-Ton network,” said Robert Hook, divisional vice president and transportation manager at The Bon-Ton Stores Inc., in a statement. “Bon-Ton looked at all of the carriers’ service reliability and commitment to technology and automated shipping systems, their ability to support Bon-Ton’s eCommerce business, and overall value. DHL’s strength in all these areas, along with exceptional customer support, was the reason for selecting DHL.”
