BoldFish Signs Up Zing Network for E-Mail System

BoldFish Inc., Santa Clara, CA, has added Zing Network Inc. to its roster of clients using its BoldFish Express Network high-volume outbound e-mail service.

Zing Network, San Francisco, an online photo network that offers digital photography services, said it will use the system to segment and personalize its e-mail communication to its 2.5 million registered users. The system also enables the company to extract specific measurements on a campaign's effectiveness.

BoldFish said its service is a spam-free network that lets marketers send tens of millions of personalized e-mail messages by sending the raw message data to BoldFish's system, which creates the individualized messages and sends them out.

Zing Network, which uses e-mail as its primary means of communicating with its membership, distributes both promotional and informational messages about three or four times a month to its opt-in list. E-mails targeting more segmented groups are sent several times per month to several thousand recipients.

“Our unsubscribe process has been automated, exceptions are infrequent, the calculations from the click-through trail analysis have been refined — and we've accomplished all of this using far fewer resources,” said Richard Fall, vice president of engineering at Zing Network.

The company said it spends less than a day to write and test its campaign messages, which typically involve running four to six database queries to determine the correct targets.
