Bigfoot Partners With Firms to Offer Services in Japan

Bigfoot Interactive yesterday announced that it has agreed to enter a four-way partnership that will develop and offer e-mail marketing services and applications to consumers and businesses in Japan.

Bigfoot, New York, and its three partners — GLQ Entrepia Inc., and Japanese firms Bluestar Corp. and Mailnews Corp. — are launching Bigfoot Japan Corp. in an attempt to bring Bigfoot's e-marketing platform to the Japanese marketplace.

As part of the venture, Bigfoot will provide the start-up with its assortment of e-mail-based customer acquisition, retention and relationship management programs as well as its scalable e-mail delivery system. Bluestar, an e-mail outsourcing firm, and Mailnews, an e-mail advertiser, will help build the new firm and fill out its management team. GLQ Entrepia, New York, a venture capital division of Japanese corporation Nissho Iwai, is funding the project.

“The Japanese market presents significant advantages over other foreign marketplaces,” said Don Oakes, chief technology officer at Bigfoot Interactive, in a prepared statement. “In Japan, there is no Internet technology legacy to prevent the rapid adoption of new technologies.”

The partners said they expect Bigfoot Japan, Tokyo, to combine an understanding of the Japanese business market with years of e-marketing experience.
