Art Technology Group Partners With E.piphany

Art Technology Group, a provider of Internet customer relationship management and electronic commerce products and services, is expected to announce next week a strategic partnership with E.piphany Inc.

ATG's Dynamo Product Suite is the e-commerce system for more than 100 clients, including heavy hitters such as 3M, Eastman Kodak and Sun Microsystems. The partnership with E.piphany will allow these companies to better market to their online customers using targeted offers based on customer's current and past activity.

E.piphany's E.4 suite of software products, which profile and analyze customer characteristics and preferences and leverage that information to target consumers with offers, will be fully integrated with the Dynamo system.

In the simplest terms E4 will help ATG clients to analyze the effectiveness of their sites, see how well their merchandise is moving and profile customer activities.

“The systems are great for collecting lists of information during e-commerce sessions — what customer data has been given, what's been clicked on, what's been placed in cart and what's been viewed,” said Paul Rodwick, vice president of product marketing and strategy at E.piphany, San Mateo, CA. “This provides a better fact-based understanding of who those customers are and how to better serve them.”

The combination of E4 and the Dynamo Server is expected to produce highly targeted campaigns for client companies. “We can personalize customer interactions in very deep ways,” said Rodwick. “Not just based on simple customer attributes like [name and occupation], but behavioral information like what you looked at and the purchases you made.”

ATG is based in Cambridge, MA. E.piphany has struck a similar agreement with Broadvision, Inc.
