AmeriComm Buys Fastlist for Database, Technology

AmeriComm LLC, which offers direct marketing agency and production services, bought Fastlist.com from ChoicePoint Asset Co., an Atlanta provider of risk and marketing information to the insurance industry.

The acquisition strengthens 50-year-old AmeriComm's database as well as mailing-list ordering technology. Terms were not disclosed.

“For the Fastlist clients, it'll give them the ability to use Fastlist as a national database supplier because we only have 45 million records and other companies contribute to that to get to 130 million,” said J. David Craig, president/CEO of AmeriComm, Norfolk, VA. “On the AmeriComm side of the equation, Fastlist had some technology advancements that were better than what we'd seen in the industry.”

Fastlist brings a database of 52 million residential households. Users of its lists include Precision Mailing, Valpak, Direct Response Marketing and Strategic Publishing. AmeriComm's roster includes QuebecorWorld, Acxiom, Mal Dunn Associates, AccuData and Linens 'n' Things.

The 6-year-old Fastlist will keep its name. The Sarasota, FL, firm's online count and ordering system was a prime attraction for AmeriComm to help clients develop mailing strategies.

Both AmeriComm and Fastlist update residential mailing lists of every U.S. household monthly. The U.S. Postal Service supplies the lists. The Fastlist site lets marketers qualify for the lowest possible postage rates, selects like geography and spending pattern and the ability to graphically view and manipulate the target market online.
