Amazon upgrades Kindle iPhone App

Amazon.com has updated its digital book reader Kindle for the iPhone, with a new updated application of the App, which launched in March.

The updated application features a new portrait/landscape mode, new pinch to zoom images in a book, as well as an option to select alternative background and text colors to improve reading in low light conditions. The new App is now available for download from the iTunes App Store.

“We are constantly working to provide our customers with the best possible shopping and reading experience,” said Cinthia Portugal, PR manager at Amazon.com, via e-mail. “The updates to Kindle for iPhone improve the reading experience for customers, and brings them the features they most requested, including landscape support, tap to turn a page and image zoom capability.”

Consumers using the iPhone App can access more than 280,000 Kindle books wirelessly on their iPhones, In addition, customers have the ability to access their library of previously purchased Kindle books stored on Amazon’s servers for the iPhone.

“The response to Kindle for iPhone has been tremendous – customers love the convenience of accessing their Kindle books whenever and wherever they want, plus the convenience of not having to remember or locate their last page read because Whispersync does that for them,” Portugal said.
