*ALC Acquires McGraw-Hill Titles

American List Counsel assumed list management duties for The McGraw-Hill Cos.' magazine and directory files last week.

“We felt that ALC could help penetrate many of the secondary list rental markets that we were not reaching before,” said Bill Denhard, director of the McGraw-Hill list management center.

The McGraw-Hill files join the ALC roster of established business-to-business clients.

“The McGraw-Hill titles really mirror a lot of our existing properties,” said Missy Root, vice president of list management at American List Counsel, Princeton, NJ. “There is a lot of cross-selling and upselling opportunity there.”

Increasing usage on the McGraw-Hill files is ALC's first priority, according to Root.

Through a usage analysis of McGraw-Hill and ALC's other management properties, she said many untapped opportunities exist.

While ALC has taken over management of BusinessWeek, McGraw-Hill's best-known title, it is also managing the following publication lists: Aviation Week & Space Technology; Business & Commercial Aviation; Design Build; Electrical World; e.MD; Engineering News-Record; Healthcare Informatics; Hospital Practice; Energy IT; Overhaul & Maintenance; The Physician & Sportsmedicine; Postgraduate Medicine; and Power.

ALC also manages the following directory files and databases: Standard & Poor's Money Market Directories; Standard & Poor's Register; Standard & Poor's Biographical; Standard & Poor's Security Dealers; Standard & Poor's Business Leaders Database; Business Leaders Database; BusinessWeek Professionals-at-Home Enhanced Database; The McGraw-Hill Construction Database; Physician's Recreation & Sports Database; and World Aviation Directory.

McGraw-Hill and ALC plan to work together to improve list rental fulfillment procedures and turnaround time.
