ABC hires former exec for NY office

The Audit Bureau of Circulations (ABC) has hired George Bartman as VP of marketing and sales.

Bartman, who most recently served as SVP of sales and marketing for Waiting Room Subscription Services, will take charge of ABC’s New York office. He will oversee sales, promotions and marketing activities there.

Other responsibilities include working with the ABC board of directors and serving as staff liaison to the Magazine Buyers’ Advisory Committee.

“At its essence ABC is a service organization – providing publishers, advertisers and advertising agencies a suite of products that meet their specific, unique and rapidly changing needs,” Bartman said. “In order to ensure the quality, value and relevance of these products, knowledgeable and supportive field service representation is an absolute necessity.”

The new job may seem a bit like déjà vu for Bartman: He first joined ABC to run the New York office in 1996 and was elected VP of sales in 2000. He left for Waiting Room in 2003.

“The mission of ABC’s New York office has long been to personify this commitment to service,” he continued. “I see my new role and return to ABC as an addition to a great field service team already in place – anxious and ready to provide continued customer satisfaction.”

Carie Beeman, the former VP of marketing and sales for ABC, left the organization for personal reasons.
