Ever since my oldest son was born six years ago, I've been a faithful and frequent direct mail buyer of children's products. But, today, as a list professional, I'm appalled and ashamed of my industry.
Today, I received an actual American Express charge card, not just an application, for my 6-year-old son. I, the parent, don't even have one, never wanted one and certainly, now, will never want one.
Its marketing team should be sent to a time-out, its database manager should be grounded for a year and its list broker should get a big, fat “F.”
