MP3.com, About.com Form Partnership

MP3.com said yesterday it has partnered with About.com in an effort to broaden its audience.

MP3.com, which only last week settled copyright lawsuits with two major record labels, will be able to integrate its digital music service and content into About.com's subject-specific sites. The deal should provide About.com users with access to digital music that appeals to them.

“Being able to deploy our infrastructure to a top destination site like About is an enormous distribution opportunity,” said Michael Robertson, chairman and CEO of MP3.com. “The real winner in the deal is the end-user, who will gain access to an integrated suite of online services that will include digital music and MP3.com digital music management features.”

The online music service provider has settled lawsuits with Time Warner's Music Group and Bertelsmann's BMG Entertainment. Seagram's Universal Music Group, Sony's Sony Music Entertainment and EMI Group have yet to settle.
