Adzone: Internet Ad Spending Up

Advertising spending on the Internet increased 54 percent over the last six months, according to AdZone Interactive. The company said yesterday that ad spending rose from $818,500,000 to $1.2 billion from January to June this year. AdZone is an advertising research firm that specializes in automated retrieval, classification, analysis and delivery of Internet advertising data.

“Brand expenditures, Web site and Web site network revenues continue to grow significantly despite talk of a dot-com slow down,” said John Cordona, president of AdZone.

In June, the top 10 brands spent $367 million with realnetworks.com leading all others at $103 million. Film.com was a distant second at $69.2 million. Other significant companies were Datek at $26 million, Verioprimehost.com at $25 million and Yahoo at $19 million.

America Online led all Web sites in ad revenue at $65 million with Yahoo following at $46 million and eBay at $32 million. Yahoo led all networks with $107 million in ad revenues.
