The Center for Social & Legal Research, Hackensack, NJ, said Friday it formed The Association of Corporate Privacy Officers in response to growing concern about privacy among consumers both online and offline.
The ACPO, a private, non-profit professional association, provides support and services to its members to help guide them in this new field.
Dr. Alan F. Westin, president and publisher of Privacy & American Business, helped to bring about ACPO with his publication’s CPO 2000 Program.
Founding members of ACPO include privacy officers from American Express, Bell Atlantic, Dun & Bradstreet, Go.com, and PriceWaterhouseCoopers.
