**Kobs, Lee Win Caples Honors

The John Caples International Awards has named Jim Kobs, president/CEO of Kobs Gregory Passavant, as recipient of the Andi Emerson Award. It also honored Bruce Lee, senior partner, North American creative director at OgilvyOne, with the 2000 Irving Wunderman Award.

The Emerson award is given to an individual who has contributed outstanding service to the creative community in direct marketing.

Kobs formed Kobs Gregory Passavant, Chicago, in 1989. Previously, Kobs was president of IBL Consulting Group, Chicago, a firm specializing in marketing and strategic planning. He was also chairman of the direct marketing agency Kobs & Brady and served as executive vice president at Stone & Adler.

He has won the Ed Mayer Award for Educational Leadership and was recently elected to the Direct Marketing Hall of Fame.

The Wunderman Award is presented to an individual who for a decade or more has combined talent, imagination, curiosity and human insight into a unique body of creative work.

Lee held senior positions with several leading agencies, including Ammirati & Puris, Scali McCabe Sloves, Leo Burnett, Wunderman Cato Johnson and Ogilvy & Mather.

His awards include a previous Caples Award, The One Show, D&AD, Clios, Cannes Lion, Effies London International Advertising Awards, Mobius, the Echo and the FCS Portfolio Awards.

This year’s Caples Awards will be presented Thursday, Feb. 22 at the New York Marquis Hotel in Times Square.
