CAPS, Ariba Team on Digital Benchmarking System

The Center for Advanced Purchasing Studies and Ariba, a business-to-business e-commerce solutions provider, yesterday said that they have developed eC3, a digital benchmarking process that will provide companies with key metrics and best practices to improve deployment of their electronic purchasing systems.

They said the eC3 program – which stands for collect, compare and collaborate – would be open to all large companies regardless of which e-procurement system they have implemented.

It will augment the traditional, manual benchmarking process that the center, or CAPS Research, uses to collect and analyze data, with an electronic process that extends the scope of the captured metrics and reduces typical benchmarking cycles by 75 percent.

The project will focus on e-procurement transactions and providing benefits in three areas:

* Measurement – defining the key metrics to manage deployment and usage programs for enterprise-level e-procurement systems.

* Comparison – creating meaningful targets for participants' e-procurement deployments based on relevant comparisons within their industry and with best-in-class efforts globally.

* Improvement – enabling new and existing e-procurement users to understand global best practices in e-procurement and incorporate them in their rollout plans.
