New Overseas Business Raises Sitel Revenue, Profit

Boosted by new overseas contracts, teleservices agency Sitel Corp. said yesterday that revenue and profit rose for the first quarter of 2002.

Sitel's revenue for the quarter was $193 million, up 4.9 percent from the same period in 2001. Net income was $2.7 million, up from $1.7 million.

New contracts with the Royal Bank of Scotland and the taxing authority of Spain contributed to Sitel's performance, said Jim Lynch, Sitel chairman/CEO. Revenue from clients obtained in the past 12 months totaled $16.3 million during the quarter.

Sitel, Baltimore, has contact centers in more than 20 countries and manages about 1.5 million customer contacts daily.
