Postal Panel Outlines Rebuttal Procedure

The Presidential Commission on the U.S. Postal Service said yesterday that March 13 will be the deadline for rebuttal to written comments on postal reform already submitted to the commission.

The commission received written comments from 250 organizations, companies, government officials and individuals by its Feb. 12 filing deadline. Many comments are posted on the commission Web site at http://www.treas.gov/offices/domestic-finance/usps.

Rebuttals should clearly indicate the recommendation being challenged as well as the party that advanced the recommendation in its public comment, the commission said. It also established three methods to be used when submitting rebuttals:

· Transmission by e-mail to [email protected]. Statements can be embedded in the e-mail as ASCII text or sent as a Microsoft Word or ASCII text attachment. Do not include artwork or other graphic elements.

· Stored on 3.5-inch high density computer disk as a Microsoft Word or ASCII text document (Windows format only) and mailed or hand-delivered to: President's Commission on the United States Postal Service, 1120 Vermont Ave., NW, Suite 971, Washington, DC 20005.

· Typed statements may be mailed or hand-delivered to the address listed above.

· Rebuttal comments must not exceed 10 pages of double-spaced written text. E-mail transmissions must be received no later than 5 p.m. Eastern on March 13. Mailed submissions must be postmarked no later than 5 p.m. Eastern, March 13.
