Missouri Charges Satellite TV Provider On No-Call

The Missouri Attorney General’s office has filed a lawsuit against Echostar Satellite Corp. charging the company with violating the state’s telemarketing no call-law.

According to the state attorney general’s office, at least 156 Missourians who registered with the state’s no-call list complained that they received telemarketing calls from Echostar selling satellite equipment and television services.

Echostar, Littleton, CO, also does business under the name Dish Network. The state is seeking unspecified penalties from the company.

Missouri also filed a complaint against third-party fund-raiser Xentel, Fort Lauderdale, FL, charging the company with using high-pressure solicitation tactics, failing to honor no-call requests and repeatedly calling consumers who had asked not to be called. The state is seeking unspecified penalties and consumer restitution from Xentel.
