US House members reportedly spent $20.3 million of tax budget last year to send constituents mass direct mail appeals on topics ranging from meeting announcements, surveys on public policy and general interest advisories, according to a review by the Associated Press. Nearly 116 million pieces were sent as part of the campaigns.
