Nissan launches Vine and Instagram video competition

To promote its latest car, the 2014 Versa Note, Nissan is holding a short video competition where fans can submit creative videos through both Vine and Instagram. The winning entries will be included in a national Nissan TV commercial.

The automobile-maker is the first company to take advantage of both video-sharing platforms for a promotional activity. By opening the competition to both Vine and Instagram, Nissan is capitalizing on the much hyped competition between the two as well as getting coverage on social media in a fun, credible way.

To enter the competition,
users have to make a six-to-15 second video on Vine or Instagram about what they love and somehow include a cutout of the Versa Note, which can be downloaded from the competition’s website
YourDoorToMore.com. The videos have to be posted with the
#VersaVid hashtag. A total of six winners will receive $1,000 Amazon.com gift
cards and three of those winners will have their
videos featured in the ad. Video submissions will be accepted until 11:59 p.m. ET on Monday, August 5.

Cars don’t just take us
places. They help us chase dreams, seek adventure, and enjoy life to the
fullest,” said Jon Brancheau, vice president, marketing, Nissan North America.
“We want to celebrate that freedom and the creativity it can inspire.”
