FTC Cracks Down on False Medical Advertising

Three medical sites that had been falsely advertising their products to be miracle cures reached a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission last week. Natural Heritage Enterprises, CMO Distribution Centers of America and EHP Products had been brought up on fraud charges as a result of the FTC’s “Operation Cure-All” investigation of bogus health sites. The three companies will repay the monies spent on herbal teas, supplements and other goods to consumers. The companies also are banned from making unsubstantiated claims about any food, drug or supplement, as well as about the results of their research in the future.
