800.com Buys Roxy.com, EverythingWireless.com

Consumer electronics retailer 800.com Inc. has acquired Roxy.com, an online consumer electronics retailer, and EverythingWireless, a direct marketer of wireless phones.

Terms of the deal were not disclosed.

800.com, Portland, OR, is a full-service retailer of electronics, movies and music and an authorized retailer for more than 70 leading brands.

The company acquired all rights to both Roxy.com's and EverythingWireless' Web sites, a combined database of 800,000 names, catalog and creative assets. The acquisition is expected to boost 800.com's revenue and market share in consumer electronics retail.

Greg Drew, 800.com's CEO, said the acquisitions will allow the company to enter into wireless phone services.

Consumer electronics is one of the fastest-growing segments in e-commerce. According to Jupiter Research, the online consumer electronics market will grow from $1.1 billion in 2000 to $3.8 billion in 2005, representing a shift of 8 percent of the traditional U.S. consumer electronics market to the Internet.

The Roxy.com and EverythingWireless.com URLs and toll-free numbers will now link customers directly to 800.com.
