Yellow Book USA names Marshall chief new media officer

Yellow Book USA, a national yellow pages and online local-search company, has hired Patrick Marshall as chief new media officer. Marshall will assume operating responsibility for Yellow Book’s new media products, including YellowBook.com and search-engine advertising.

Marshall has spent 28 years in marketing leadership positions, including as a senior executive with Verizon, Frontier Corporation and R. H. Donnelley. At Verizon, Marshall led the launch and management of SuperPages.com. Most recently, Marshall served as president of PJM Strategy Consulting LLC, an Internet and marketing strategy consultancy.

He has been involved in numerous new media initiatives, including mobile device applications, speech-based search services and digital information services development.

Marshall was the first recipient of The Kelsey Group’s New Technologies Leadership Award in 2002.

“We’re pleased to have Pat join Yellow Book,” said Joe Walsh, president/CEO of Yellow Book, in a statement. “His extensive knowledge of Internet local search has made him a natural fit for this position. His industry experience will make him a valuable addition to our team, and will no doubt take Yellow Book’s Internet products to even higher levels, benefiting both users and advertisers.”

Marshall has served on the boards of directors of the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the Information Industry Association, the board of trustees of The Marketing Science Institute and the University of Texas at Arlington e-Commerce advisory board.

He has also served on the boards of directors of interactive marketing and technology firms WebVisible and AgendiZe.
