Yahoo launches Personal Finance resource site

NEW YORK — At New York’s 7Square chophouse, representatives of Yahoo announced that the company is launching Yahoo Personal Finance to bring more information to users with more new, rich content tools.

Yahoo is confident that the launch will expand their audience significantly and therefore present a relative audience for marketers who chose to offer its services through advertisement on the site at http://finance.yahoo.com/personal-finance.

“We hope that Yahoo Personal Finance will be the leading destination for investment information,” said Peggy White, general manager of Yahoo Finance, New York. “Currently, Yahoo Finance is filled with quotes and it is data-centric and there are no offers for consumers to manage other aspects of their financial lives.”

Yahoo Personal Finance consists of how to-guides, calculators, expert opinions, top stories and investment information.

The Web site is using 25 different content providers like Kiplinger, Smart Money, The Wall Street Journal and Motley Fool – to name a few.

It has nine resource centers: Banking and budgeting, career and work, college and education, family and more, investing, loans, real estate, retirement, and taxes.

In addition the site invites people to share tips and information with one another by incorporating Yahoo Answers and asking for consumer ratings and comments.

Questions like, “How much do I need to save for retirement,” can be answered through expert opinion pieces.

David Bach, author of Finish Rich and a financial speaker on retirement, financial planning and tax saving tips is one of the experts that Yahoo will feature. Also, Laura Rowley award-winning print and television journalist, and a professional speaker on financial planning will also offer her expert opinion on the site.

The site will be advertised throughout the Yahoo network including a showcase on the Yahoo homepage. Starting some time next week, it will also be advertised outside of the network.

TurboTax, T. Rowe Price, E*TRADE Financial, Quicken Loans and Bank of America are among the first advertisers on the site.
