WPP acquires mobile app developer Bottle Rocket

The WPP Group is expanding its mobile arsenal by acquiring mobile apps maker Bottle Rocket.

Bottle Rocket creates iOS and Android apps for brands. Much of its big-name clientele is made up of television networks, including Showtime, The History Channel, National Geographic, and The Food Network.

It’s a valuable buy for WPP. The Dallas, Texas-based Bottle Rocket regularly features in the top app categories on the Apple Store and has won numerous industry accolades for its digital work.

In a statement, Bottle Rocket founder and president Calvin Carter said, “Bottle Rocket will remain as a separate company under my leadership and
we will maintain our culture, our products, our services, our offices,
our focus and our clients. We will continue to deliver the quality of
work our customers expect from us, but now with much more horsepower,
capacity and capabilities.”

About WPP, Carter said, “We’ve very carefully selected a company we feel to be our true soul
mates. They’re smart and passionate people focused on producing original
and outstanding work, just like all 170 of my fellow Rocketeers.”
