Blue State, based in Washington DC, will retain its staff, brand and client list.
Blue State’s social media strategy and digital outreach will complement WPP’s existing agency capabilities in marketing communications and public affairs. The acquisition will strengthen the holding company’s resources in technology and creative consulting, said Thomas Gensemer, managing partner at Blue State Digital.
Blue State specializes in online fundraising and advocacy for nonprofits, educational and cultural institutions, political campaigns and corporate brands.
A WPP representative could not be immediately reached for comment on the deal. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
