Working Mother completes Public Affairs acquisition

Publishing group Working Mother Media has completed its acquisition of virtually all of the assets of the Public Affairs Group, a subsidiary of iVillage Inc., an NBC Universal Inc. company.

Public Affairs sold its Diversity Best Practices, Business Women’s Network and Best Practices in Corporate Communications divisions. The sale price was not made public.

Working Mother Media produces magazines, conferences, research and Web sites that focus on work life balance, advancement of women and diversity in the workplace. Its flagship consumer magazine is Working Mother, a 27-year-old title with a circulation of 3 million.

Working Mother publishes a list of employers of choice including the Working Mother 100 Best Companies, Best Companies for Women of Color and Best Small Companies.

The Washington, DC-based Public Affairs includes several membership organizations that focus on serving chief diversity officers, corporate communications professionals and women business owners.

The organization hosts conferences and events, publishes resource books used in the diversity community, including Wow! Facts, and provides services related to the advancement of minorities and women.
