WishClick Targets Offers for Retailers

WishClick Inc. expects to launch the WishClick Gift Center by the end of July. The move is part of WishClick's effort to reposition itself as a company that collects information on consumer wishes and relays it to online retailers, instead of merely providing wish lists for consumers.

Located on an online retailer's product page, the WishClick Gift Center will include reminders, retailer-specific wish lists, calendars, e-mail, online greetings, gift suggestions and expert recommendations.

Once the consumer enters information on products he would like to buy or have others give as gifts, WishClick will send targeted offers on behalf of retailers in its network.

Scott Sangster, CEO of WishClick, said this new gift center rounds out the gift exchange process by supplying information on gift buyers as well as recipients.

“What we do is, we look at people who expressed interest in particular products and then target promotions directly to them,” Sangster said, “because what wishing really is, is consumers saying, `I want this product, but I can't buy it or I'm not ready now.' So they're very susceptible [to targeted offers].”

Based in Foster City, CA, the 1-year-old WishClick has a presence on 12 online retailers' sites through a button on product pages. These retail partners include the online arms of The Sharper Image, Hammacher Schlemmer and Crutchfield Electronics; and Internet-only companies such as eBags.com and Miadora.com.

Consumers can enter their wishes on those sites by clicking on the WishClick tab on a retailer's site or by visiting www.wishclick.com and opening an account.
