Wienyk takes over AKQA NY

Guy Wieynk recently relocated to ad agency AKQA’s New York office to become managing director. He will champion the Coca-Cola business globally, oversee all operations for the office and contribute to the agency’s overall strategy.

Mr. Wieynk was client services director for AKQA’s San Francisco office. The New York office has been open a little more than a year and supports clients including Comcast, Diageo and the New York Jets.

“Each of the AKQA offices has its own natural strength based on client requirements,” he said.

New York’s strength lies in creating engaging consumer experiences on digital platforms such as Web and mobile; content development for various campaign mediums; and interface design, which often promotes usability and supports e-commerce, he said.

Mr. Wieynk began his career with AKQA eight years ago in London. He has worked with local, national and international clients including Sainsbury’s, Microsoft, Samsung, Nikon and Xbox. The worldwide customer relationship marketing and e-commerce services provider has more than 475 employees.

He built AKQA San Francisco’s interface design and Web development capabilities and developed a client services program. He helped win new business including MSN and Target.

One industry issue Mr. Wieynk noted was digital efforts being an afterthought in marketing communications.

“Luckily, our clients are forward-thinking enough to realize the challenge,” he said.
