A dispute over preferential URL legislation has surfaced in the Florida courts. Chris McElroy has filed a class action suit against Network Solutions LLC and the Internet Corp. for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN). In the suit, McElroy alleges ICANN’s registration method, what he calls “front-running,” limits citizen access to names, forcing them to broker a deal through Network Solutions. The company said its registration practices protect customers from having domain names they search for reserved by unaffiliated parties.
