Westlake Ace launches mobile campaign

Westlake Ace Hardware has launched a marketing campaign designed to drive mobile database opt-in. Westlake is working with marketing technology services company SoundBite Communications on the campaign.

The “Weather the Storm” campaign encourages consumers to opt into Ace’s mobile database to receive weather-related alerts combined with marketing offers. The alerts feature National Weather Service information based on consumer ZIP codes.

Liz Benditt, director of customer relationship development at Westlake Ace Hardware, said the campaign makes sense because “weather emergency preparedness is one of Westlake’s specialties and the launch of the text alert program … is another way we ensure our customers are well prepared for whatever Mother Nature dishes out,” in a statement.

Ace Hardware Corp. and The Weather Channel partnered to launch an online contest on April 18 to raise consumer awareness of both companies’ offerings. The “Restore Your Outdoors” contest asked consumers to submit a written testimonial and photos or videos of their yards for a chance to win an Ace Hardware-sponsored outdoor makeover

Westlake Ace Hardware, the largest member of the Ace Hardware Cooperative, operates 88 hardware stores across seven states.

A Westlake representative was not immediately available for comment.
