Wells Fargo Debuts Web-enabled ATMs

Wells Fargo & Co. yesterday unveiled its new Web-enabled automatic teller machines that can deliver targeted advertisements to consumers with full-motion video.

The San Francisco-based bank said it plans to introduce more than 800 of the new machines this year in California and Arizona and more next year.

The machines will show movie trailers and paid advertisements when not in use and then provide personalized greetings and targeted ads when users insert their ATM cards.

The touch-screen menu also will allow customers to peruse other bank offerings and read news headlines from MSNBC.com.

Wells Fargo operates more than 6,000 ATMs and 5,310 retail locations throughout North America.
