Vons/Pavilions to Help California Schools

Vons/Pavilions, Arcadia, CA, and its parent company Safeway, this week announced that it would contribute at least $15 million a year to education in California and Nevada via a new online fundraising program called eScrip. The program will allow public schools and education-based community organizations to raise money by shopping at their local Vons/Pavilions stores.

Schools and organizations that register with eScrip will receive up to 4 percent of each purchase made by participants. Other corporations include American Airlines, Budget Rent-A-Car, Choice Hotels, Eddie Bauer, Fresh Choice, Payless Shoe Source, Spiegel, telegroup, Timberland and The Sharper Image. These corporations will provide a percentage of each purchase to the participating eScrip organization.

Registration for schools and organizations is free, while supporters must agree to pay a $10 registration fee. Monthly reports are provided to the schools, quarterly reports to parents.
